Hello! I would like to introduce myself. My name is Natalie Sahinoglu. I grew up locally in Niles and I graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Elementary Education. For 15 years I’ve proudly called Palatine home, where I live with my husband, our son with special needs, and our beloved dog. Our family also had the privilege of spending five years as foster parents to two wonderful children.
I am deeply connected to the special needs community. I currently serve on the board of Chicago Top Soccer, an inclusive program that brings the joy of game to children with disabilities. I have also helped, creatively, with a theater program that pairs individuals and a buddy to perform Broadway shows.
In my free time, I enjoy crafting of all kinds and exploring new ways to create art. I believe creativity brings people together and builds community. I volunteered my sewing skills with a group who makes women’s hygiene products to send to Madagascar. This allows the girls to continue to attend school, as well as allowing adult women to sell the kits as a way to be more self sufficient. I also enjoy learning new languages and have beginner skills in Spanish, Turkish, and American Sign Language.
In 2024 I was locally awarded The Barack Obama Community Organizing Award.
I am excited for the opportunity to represent our community and bring my experience, compassion, and commitment to service into leadership. I look forward to working with you all to serve our township.
